Normandy Adventure, France
A team of school staff took 48 students from years 9 & 10 to Northern France for an action packed and enriching week of excursions and adventurous activities. Students and staff stayed in a tented village in the idyllic village of Hauteville Sur-Mer which is only a stone’s throw from a sandy beach. Students took part in Rock Climbing, High Ropes and Nightline Challenges (where Mr Burton soaked many with the hosepipe!), Raft Building and Fencing along with evening activities including beach games and inter-group competitions.
The excursions were equally very rewarding with the first being a visit to a Goats Cheese Farm. Students experienced a lesson taught by French farmers which covered the milking, animal care and importantly, the tasting of freshly produced organic goats’ cheese. Excursions to Arromanches 360’ Cinema, the Bayeux Tapestry and American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach happened on one day giving students a very educational, thought provoking and humbling experience indeed.
